The Forest Fringe became an organization in 1995 when it was felt a groomed interlinking snowmobile trail system should be developed from Nipawin to Meadow Lake and onto the Alberta border.  This trail has become part of the Trans Canadian Snowmobile Trail (TCST) system which crosses Canada from East to West.
